Morro de Calzada
Birding near Moyobamba
Contact Ikam Expeditions for access to the Reserva Morro de Calzada. This private nature reserve has three bird blinds and since tours are early in the morning they serve breakfast at the reserve. The bird blind that has the most hummingbirds also attracts tamarin monkeys. The bird blind below is specifically for wetland birds like rails and crakes, the most common visitor is the Rufous-sided crake.
Ikam Expeditions also include a visit to a private garden in the nearby town of Calzada that attracts many species of tanagers, hummingbirds and euphonias. You are almost guaranteed Thick-billed, Orange-crowned and Golden-bellied euphonias. Burnished-buff tanagers are also very common.
