Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel

Riverside luxury

Sumaq means delicious in Quechua, but it applies to a lot more than food and the overall experience at this hotel is quite delicious. The food is great and the rooms are luxurious but you have to request a room with a river view if you want a view. Otherwise you’ll get to see jungle or the side of the building out your windows.

Adding Machu Picchu to the name doesn’t mean it’s up by the archeological site. Rather, this is one of the businesses that wanted to rebrand the town of Aguas Calientes as Machu Picchu Pueblo, to make everything in town sound like it’s at Machu Picchu, rather than a half hour bus ride away.
