Iquitos Accommodation

Otorongo Guest House outdoor mosquito screen

Iquitos is a much bigger town than Puerto Maldonado, but these two jungle cities still have a lot in common. Options in Iquitos tend to be basic with the most luxurious options in the jungle or even on the river.

Basic in town & luxury in the jungle

Hotels and hostels in Iquitos are mostly on booking engines, though you can find a few truly budget options by finding cash-only places after you arrive. Be aware that air conditioning is likely unavailable and you need to check that you’ll have a fan.

Mid-range accommodation in Iquitos is almost entirely available to book online. Many (not all) places have air conditioning.

Luxury places are usually lodges in the jungle that pick up guests at the airport and whisk them directly to the lodge. There are both eco-lodges in the jungle and Amazon River cruises that can easily run over $1,000 per day.
