Monasterio, A Belmond Hotel

Best 5⋆ for luxury

Belmond Monasterio Hotel Cusco

If you want all around luxury, the Belmond Monasterio. Of all the beautiful old colonial buildings in Cusco, this is the best in terms of the preservation and how simple monk’s rooms have been converted to luxurious suites. The San Antonio de Abad Chapel is part of the hotel and the perfect location for a Cusco wedding. This really sets it apart from the Palacio Nazarenas, A Belmond Hotel, which is right next door.

I haven’t stayed here, but I love both the restaurants for a splurge and the chapel for events. The breakfast buffet (below) is among the best in town. Classically trained Angela Marina sings opera Thursday, Friday and Saturday during dinner. The rooms I’ve seen are beautiful and the service is excellent. They often have live music in the courtyard, which are some of Cusco’s best musicians.
