Casa de Guias

Your first stop in Huaraz!

Huaraz Casa de Guias

If you plan to do any hiking, whether it’s day hikes or multi-day treks, come first to the Casa de Guías to get information. If you want to do any mountaineering, this is the place to come for current snowpack conditions and information about specific routes and peaks.

There is always an employee who provides free information and often guides as well. This is the place to meet guides directly (without an agency) to either hire them or to talk with them about routes and current conditions.

Map Cordillera Blanca y Huahhuash

You can get free maps produced by the Peruvian government and Huascarán National Parks. The Casa de Guías also sells topo maps and more detailed maps of specific routes. Below is a map they sell of both the Cordillera Blanca & Huayhuash. You can’t rent gear, but there are several nearby shops that do.
