Huaraz Accommodation

Plentiful & economical

Huaraz Plaza de Armas

There are lots of options for hotels and hostels in Huaraz, but don’t expect anything fancy. It’s not touristy enough to have the kinds of hotels you can find in Lima or Cusco. There are a few proper hotels but most are cheap hotels and hostels. A room with a private bathroom usually runs about s/50 near the center. Prices go down as you get farther from the Plaza de Armas.

Most hotels offer breakfast included but considering how amazing the bakeries and smoothie places are, it’s not necessary. You can get 4 or 5 fresh bread rolls for s/1 and juice for s/4-s/10, depending on which fruit you pick. Stalls upstairs in the market offer more substantial breakfasts for s/4-s/10.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any first-person hotel recommendations for Huaraz yet. I stayed at Residencial el Valle on the south side of town, which was adequate, but unremarkable and too far from the center for me to recommend.
