Buying Art in Lima

Try Barranco first

Fito Espinosa painting

The bohemian neighborhood of Barranco is the first place to go in Lima if you’re interested in buying art. There are lots of artists selling art in the streets and this is where you’ll find most artists’ private galleries and workshops.

Well-known Limeñian artists to check out are Fito Espinosa (below) and Marcelo Wong. German Quino Ganoza is another Limeñian who has a pop art style almost like a Peruvian Andy Warhol. Nación Chicha has a graffiti style of political messages on posters, t-shirts and mugs.
