Arequipa Food & Drink

Arequipa restaurant Zig Zag

There are many fabulous restaurants in Arequipa. Below are just a few of my favorites.

Zig Zag: An excellent restaurant for food, drinks, service and atmosphere. It’s best known for beef options but I had the trout which was creative and delicious. It’s also famous for having a great selection of wine and reportedly the best desserts in town. $$$ d

El Tío Darío: This is the premier seafood restaurant in town, with the same owners as Zig Zag. Arequipa is not far from the coast and the seafood is excellent. $$$ l d

13 Monjas: One of Arequipa’s newest restaurants, 13 Monjas has a wide selection of dishes from their wood fired oven and lots of imported beers. $$ l d

La Trattoria del Monestario: The food here is very good and the patio is the most peaceful place to eat in town. $$ l d

La Despensa: This has the best pastries in Arequipa, perhaps because they have a French pastry chef. It also has a full menu with French and Peruvian options. $$ b l d
