Juliaca

The only airport in the area

Viva airlines

Juliaca has an airport, so if you’re flying to Lake Titicaca, this is where you’ll arrive. I do not recommend planning to spend any time in Juliaca as it is not a scenic or particularly safe place. However, if you want to spend time on either Amantaní or Taquile islands it’s a useful transport hub.

Transport to Capachica

From the Juliaca airport you can get a taxi to the “paradero de Capachica” which is where you can get either another taxi or a shared van to Capachica.

If you have a car and are driving from Cusco, you can go directly to Capachica. There are shared taxis available from Cusco to Juliaca near the Ovalo Pachacutec. Any taxi driver in Cusco can take you to the “paradero de autos de Juliaca.” It’s about a four hour drive from Cusco to Juliaca.
