Puno

Where tours leave from

Puno has lodging and is also the place to take boats to the Uros Floating Islands. Most tours leave from Puno and the tour agencies in the area are based in Puno.

Hotels in town are quite basic and you should pick one near the plaza if you want heating - and you do want heating. Puno is cold all year because of the high altitude. There are a few luxury hotels that will pick you up in town and whisk you away to their property.

Transport

There are busses to Puno from Cusco or Arequipa. These are comfortable busses with assigned seats. Many are overnight. You can also take a shared taxi, which is faster but for some people feels less safe.
