Machu Picchu In-A-Day

From Cusco

Machu Picchu

If possible, I recommend seeing Machu Picchu in at least two days: see the 2 day itinerary. But if you really have only one day, it’s still possible to visit Machu Picchu in just one day from Cusco, though is a very long and rushed 18 hours or so.

Cusco–Ollantaytambo–Aguas Calientes

The basics of this itinerary are to drive from Cusco City to Ollantaytambo and take the earliest train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (5:05am or 6:10am). The train ride is about two hours.

Aguas Calientes–Machu Picchu

At Aguas Calientes you take the bus up to Machu Picchu, which takes about half an hour. You must have already bought your Machu Picchu ticket for that day, with a morning entrance time.
