Machu Picchu In-2-Days

See the sun rise on Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu

If you don’t want to hike to Machu Picchu, this is the best way to see the ancient Inca City. With two days you spend the night in Aguas Calientes and can be up at Machu Picchu early enough to watch the sun rise over the ruins. This itinerary also gives you the opportunity to do an extra hike from the main ruins.

This is the best way to visit Machu Picchu without being too rushed. Dozens of tour agencies in Cusco sell this two day itinerary. You can buy your own tickets and organize your own trip but you do need a guide to visit Machu Picchu. They are readily available at the gate. Read my guide for how to buy tickets first.

Day 1

Drive from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and take The Machu Picchu train to Aguas Calientes, or take the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes.
