Peru’s Tourism Website

Government info

Peru’s official tourism website peru.info/en-us has a wealth of information about tourist destinations, food and culture.

The government MINCETUR (Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo) and the Ministerio de Cultura manage all touristic sites and archeological sites such as Machu Picchu.

iPeru office in the Lima airport

Look for iPerú offices like the one above, which is in the Lima airport. Towns like Huaraz have one on the main plaza but not all towns have an iPeru office. If you’re asking around for one, be aware that the Spanish pronunciation makes it sound like ee-Peru.

In Peru, private companies sometimes fill the role of tourism offices. You’ll see signs for “Free Tourist Information” in most Tour Agencies. Most provide excellent information although you can expect that they’ll try to sell you a tour as well.
