Jorge Chavez Int’l Airport

Peru’s new international airport

Lima airport

Lima’s new airport opened in June 2025 but construction is ongoing. Check my Lima airport blog for updates.

Lima’s airport is where you’ll likely arrive, as other airports in Peru have very limited international arrivals. The new airport is an entirely new building across the runway from the old airport, so any airport information from before June 2025 is incorrect, including the location.

You will walk a lot at this airport and there are very few moving walkways. If you have any mobility limitations, request a wheelchair from the airline before arrival. It will save you endless hallways and you get the priority line for immigration.

international arrivals & connections

International Arrivals

Arriving in Peru, you have to go through immigration before collecting your luggage. They no longer stamp passports and usually give people 30 days, so be sure to ask for more if you’ll be staying longer. You can ask for up to 90 days at a time and are allowed 183 days per year.
