Quai des États Unis

Quay of the United States at Nice

The Promenade des Anglais stretches most of the way along the Baie des Anges until it becomes the Quai des États Unis at the base of the triangle forming Vieux Nice.

The Quai faces the sea above Beau Rivage, Opéra, Ponchettes and Castel Plages and acts as a nice buffer between the beach and the Vieux Ville. The Quay forms a neo-classical colonnade across the entrance across the Rue des Ponchettes to the Cours Saleya while the rest is lined with restaurants and shops.

The Quai was named in honour of the United States of America following President Wilson’s decision to enter World War I in 1917 which ultimately enabled the Allies to secure victory.
