Leazes Park

The City's oldest public space

Leazes Park

Leazes park lies to the west of the city centre next to St James Park and the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Leazes is the City's oldest park and was opened in 1873 and recently restored to it's original design with ornate gateways and railings around the boundary. The peaceful lake, available for angling, has also been restored as has the memorial garden.

Fancy a game of tennis? There are courts and a tennis club based in the park. Maybe you just want a tranquil place for a picnic? Well you'll find that here but you'll need to bring your own food as there is no café in the park.
