Shelburne Farms
Educational Farm

With sustainability and land stewardship as its watchwords, the working farm of Shelburne Farms is a curious blend of science, nature, Gilded Age grandeur, and a forward thinking outlook.
Originally created in 1886 by William Seward Webb and Eliza Osgood Vanderbilt Webb, it was intended as an educational agricultural estate.
Landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (the man behind New York’s Central Park) designed the grounds with distinct farm, forest and park zones which now contain winding carriage roads, formal gardens, walking trails, and forested areas that harmonize with lake and mountain views.
Take an educational tour, purchase their award winning cheddar cheese and maple syrup, or stay at the inn and enjoy farm-to-table food at the restaurant.
