Dinosaur State Park
Older than you by 200 million years
Jurassic Park exists. Well, sort of. Living dinosaurs require imagination, but their traces remain. Dinosaur State Park preserves over 750 fossilized footprints made over 200 million years ago.
Discovered by accident in 1966 during excavation for a state building, the site is now protected under a geodesic dome where visitors can view the tracks up close.
The park’s exhibit center features interactive displays on geology, paleontology, and Connecticut’s prehistoric past, as well as life-sized dioramas and dinosaur models.
Outside, two miles of nature trails wind through a landscaped arboretum showcasing over 200 species of living plants related to those from the Mesozoic era. No running for your life required.
