Cider Donuts
Fall’s dessert halo
Along with pumpkin spice lattes and leaf peeping, the mighty cider doughnut is a fall tradition in New England.
The batter is made with apple cider folded into a buttermilk and kissed with cinnamon and nutmeg. Into the frier it goes. Some get dusted with sugar... and some do not. Voila!
Crispy on the outside, crumbly cake in the middle, and the scent of apples. They tend to run a little smaller in size than traditional doughnuts and are often served hot out of the fryer in a paper bag to soak up some oil. Oddly (or not), they go great with apple cider!
