Kancamagus Scenic Byway
A stunning drive with idyllic stops

One of America’s most stunning byways in the fall is the Kancampagus Highway (“the Kanc”) or less glamorously known as Route 112.
This 34.5 mile route wends its way past mountain after mountain, straight through the heart of the White Mountain National Forest. An audio driving tour is available.
Wildlife is abundant, and it’s possible to cross paths with moose, raccoons, bear, eagles, and deer.
Scenic overlooks are thoughtfully placed, allowing views of The Hancock, Sugar Hill, and Pemi Overlooks.
A favorite stop is the Sabbaday Falls (this entry’s map location), where Sabbaday Brook has been chiseling its way through thick granite walls for millennia to create right angles.
Attractions
Popular attractions include the gondola ride and ninja park at Loon Mountain Resort, as well as the zipline through the forest at Alpine Adventures.
