Winter: Dec, Jan, & Feb

Killington, 2019

Winter is cold and snowy. While snow clearing is generally excellent, blizzards (Nor’easters) can disrupt travel plans. Take precautions for ice.

Temperatures range: 10°F to 40°F (–12°C to 4°C)

Bring: Warm coat, waterproof boots, scarf, gloves, hat.

Events

  • Christmas Prelude – Kennebunkport, ME (December) A storybook seaside town goes all out with tree lightings, fireworks, caroling, and lobster trap decorations. Frequently named one of America’s best Christmas towns.

  • Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas – Stockbridge, MA (December) The town recreates the scene from a famous Norman Rockwell painting, complete with vintage cars, lights, and wreaths. Pure New England nostalgia.

  • Wassail Weekend – Woodstock, VT Horse-drawn carriages, traditional music, lantern-lit parades, and Victorian costumes in one of Vermont’s prettiest towns.
