Spring: Mar, Apr, & May

A moose in Maine during spring standing behind budding brush.

Days start to warm in spring but nights will stay decidedly cool.

The remains of the snows will also create melt-water that inflates streams, making waterfalls more impressive, but also making many trails muddy.

Temperatures: 30°F to 65°F (–1°C to 18°C)

Layers and a rain jacket are key.

Events

  • St Patrick’s Day Parade (Annually mid March) Boston loves to party and the St. Patrick’s Day parade lets everyone get their green on to watch bands, civic groups, and floats. For those who imbibe, pubs and breweries often feature specials.

  • New England Folk Festival (Annually in April) Three days of participatory dance, music, and crafts. Think contra dancing, fiddles, workshops, and food from around the world—deeply community-rooted.
