Bicycles

Marrakech 2010 (133)

Marrakesh is quite flat and cycling is a good way to get around, although it can be a bit fraught. Moroccan drivers are not the best, and on narrow Medina streets in particular, you'll need to be wary of pedestrians (use your bell liberally).

A number of firms offer bicycle tours of Marrakesh. You'll find more details in our page on city tours.

Blondie in Morocco has some good advice about cycling in Marrakesh on her blog.

Bicycle rental

Marrakesh has a street bike hire system called Medina Bike, similar to those in use in other cities, costing 50dh/day or 150dh/week. You can pick up and drop off bikes at eleven docks around the Ville Nouvelle, and one on Avenue Mohammed V near the Koutoubia‎. You need a smartphone to use Medina Bike, and you have to register, but the process easy enough. For further details see the Medina Bike website, and check the latest Medina Bike reviews on Tripadvisor.
