Mosques

mosque in Marrakech

Morocco is a religious country. Every neighbourhood in Marrakesh has a local mosque, and people use them on a daily basis. On Fridays, the tradition is for the wider community to gather for the midday prayer at a larger mosque – the Koutoubia, for example, was at one time the Friday mosque for the whole city.

Call To Prayer - El-Mansouria Mosque

A mosque is a place set aside specifically for praying and nothing else. For that reason, non-Muslims are not allowed to go inside Moroccan mosques, so you can only see the inside if you are Muslim (and even then, strictly speaking, you should only be going in to pray).
