Le Tobsil

Palatial riad restaurant near Bab Ksour (d; $$$)

Tobsil Restaurant, Marrakesh

Le Tobsil is a palatial restaurant in a riad, but intimate rather than grand.

Le Tobsil has had celebrity accolades, and has even on occasion been billed as one of the best restaurants in the world, all of which gives it a somewhat exaggerated reputation, beyond what it really is. Still, the food is pretty good, there's lots of it, and the ambience is wonderful, just big enough to still have a feeling of intimacy while admiring the palatial decor.

The set menu runs to five courses, with wine, and while connoisseurs may quibble that it isn't the best in town, it's certainly the best restaurant in the vicinity of the Jemaa el Fna.
