1400–1560: Medieval Madrid

Perhaps the best way to get a glimpse of what the old city must have been like is to wander the web of streets and alleyways of the barrio of La Latina, making sure you take in the remains of the city walls next to the cathedral, the medieval squares of Plaza de la Villa and Plaza de la Paja and the Mudéjar towers of the churches of San Nicólas and San Pedro el Viejo.
