If you don’t see the information you’re looking for in this app (don’t forget to use the search function in the top right-hand corner), then try the Japan National Tourism Organization’s (JNTO) excellent website Visit Japan.

Some basics:

Timezone: All of Japan sits within one time zone, and there is no daylight saving. Japan is 9 hours ahead of GMT.

Etiquette: Politeness, courtesy and common sense go a long way in Japan.

Electricity & plugs: Japan uses two flat parallel prong plugs.

Internet: Check out Wi-fi & Connectivity for your options.
