Saronic Islands

Poros, Greece

Often unfairly overlooked as an island destination, these five islands’ close proximity to Athens by ferry – an hour or more depending on the service taken – makes them a great destination to visit if you’re short on time in the capital but wish to include an island hop too.

They’re also popular for weekend breaks for Athenians with second homes.

Aegina, Hydra, Poros and Spetses are more popular with Agistri less know, hence quieter.

None have airports, but don’t need them due to their close proximity to Piraeus port in Athens.
