Greece has a great range of accommodation, with the market split several ways:

Budget offerings include Hostels in cities such as Athens and Thessaloniki,
Homestays such as Airbnb offer good alternatives and are especially popular all over Greece, including the cities and can be very central–a good, cheaper alternative for a longer term stay.

Mid-range options are dominated by small family run establishments, especially in the Greek Islands and inner city areas, plus a few modern central chain hotels.
It’s also possible to find a few small boutique hotels in this category too.
