Rainbow Rim Bike Trails

Backcountry rim views

Since biking on hiking trails is prohibited in the national park, for a serious bike adventure head for the Kaibab National Forest.

The Forest Service has built an 18-mile, easy to intermediate bike route on the North Rim that connects 7 spectacular viewpoints. The trails pass through a old growth ponderosa pine and drop into a number of steep-sided canyons filled with groves of aspens and small meadows suitable for dispersed camping.

To reach the trailheads, begin at DeMotte Campground off Hwy 67, 26.5 miles south of Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center.

Crazy Jug & Monument View Trail

Take FDR 22 for 10.5 miles to FDR 206. In 1 mile, you’ll reach a parking lot and FDR 425 (high-clearance vehicles only) to Crazy Jug and Monuments viewpoints.

Rainbow Rim Trails–Five Trails, Five Viewpoints

From the Crazy Jug and Monuments Trail parking lot, continue 2.5 miles on FDR 206 and turn right (west) on FDR 214 and follow it for 8 miles to Parissawampitts Viewpoint.
