Summerhall
Hip arts venue with microbrewery & cafe (b,l,d; £)

The Summerhall arts venue is focused on a lively courtyard and occupies an old veterinary college. It's always a good bet for interesting shows, talks and exhibitions and a generally youthful creative buzz. The programme is always worth a look.

Regular Cèilidh's are held here and beginner's welcome.

Eating
Summerhall also has an excellent cafe and pub. The cafe offers a range of healthy toasted sandwiches and homemade pies (around £7); the pub & microbrewery The Royal Dick – which sports ecelectic memorabilia from the buildings old vet school days – has a small menu of high-quality regional food (mains around £9) - rumblethumps anyone? (a mash, cabbage and onion dish).
