Kingsand & Cawsand

Twin villages beside the bay

Kingsand

The photogenic fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand sit side-by-side at the entrance to the vast natural harbour that is Plymouth Sound. They offer a batch of beaches, winding lanes, cafes and water-side pubs. The ferry from Plymouth is one of the most enjoyable ways to arrive.

Cawsand

The Plymouth ferry lands on Cawsand beach. It has seasonal SUP and sit-on-top kayak hire. Towards higher tides snorkelling is good on the beach’s south side – on the right looking towards the sea.

Look out for the boathouse of the Rame Gig Club by the slipway – you might also see them rowing just offshore. The Cross Keys pub and an ice cream and pasty shop are just behind the beach.
