South West Coast Path (630 miles)
This is the biggy – at 630 miles, the South West Coast Path is one of the world’s best long distance trails. It reaches from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset and takes in Exmoor, north Devon, Cornwall, Plymouth, south Devon and Torbay.
However you walk it, the path is scenic and diverse, taking in remote moors, city streets, vast beaches and secluded bays.
Planning
Some people just notch up a couple of day hikes. Few (but some) set off on 52 days of continuous walking, camping and carrying their kit. The majority tackle the trail over a series of two-week breaks.
