Spit-roast lamb

Roast lamb is one of the specialities of central Dalmatia and Vicko, located in rustic surroundings just outside the city, is one of the best places to try it.

You’ll probably see whole lamb carcasses roasting on a spit outside the restaurant as you approach. Croatians like their lamb succulent, and the meat is usually served with a mixture of lean cuts, fatty cuts, and meat on the bone. Roast potatoes and spring onion are the standard accompaniment.

Vicko’s delicious home-baked bread is an additional reason to make the trip.
