Kite-boarding

Aitutaki hotspot for all comers!

Aitutaki and its gorgeous lagoon are recognised as one of the best places in the world to learn to kite-board. This is also a hotspot for the pros.

Think warm tropical waters, plus a combination of offshore winds with smooth flat waters, and onshore winds with small waves, shallow sandy flats and deep blue water - all at the same time!

Wet & Wild Kite Boarding Aitutaki is a top set up. Their kite centre on Honeymoon Island is reached by water taxi and they offer kiting gear rentals, lessons and packages for beginners. They also run accommodation at Ranginui’s Retreat.

The Aitutaki Island Council has designated two kiting areas in the lagoon - at Honeymoon Island and off Ootu Beach, where Ranginui’s Retreat is located. Kiting season is generally thought of as June to October.
