Rarotonga International Airport, Avarua (482037)

Kia Orana! (’May you live a long and fulfilling life’ in Cook Islands Maori).

Time Zone

The Cooks are 10 hours behind GMT, just east of the International Date Line. If it’s midday in Rarotonga, it’s 10am in Auckland and 8am in Sydney – the following day.

Be careful with accommodation bookings – if you flew from NZ or Australia, you are likely to arrive in the Cook Islands the day before you left.

While locals speak Cook Islands Maori, virtually everybody also speaks English.

As in NZ & Australia - 240AC, 50HZ - with three-blade plugs.

Weights & Measures

The Cook Islands use the metric system.

Locals dedicate Sundays to church, family and rest. Many restaurants, cafes and bars will be closed.
