Burning the Clocks

A Winter Solstice Celebration (Dec 21)

Burning the Clocks Brighton

The most magical of Brighton's festivals, Burning the Clocks, is an event which has its roots in paganism.

On the 21st December, locals carry handmade lanterns through the streets in a parade.

The event culminates with a gathering on the beach where the lanterns are thrown onto a flaming bonfire, followed by a spectacular firework display.

Revellers round off the evening with a mulled wine next to a roaring fire in one of the city's many pubs.
