Souvenirs

Rum, crafts & trinkets

Looking for a souvenir to take home for yourself or a loved one? Beyond the obvious choice – rum – and the inevitable key rings, fridge magnets, T-shirts and tea-towels, there’s a small selection of quality arts and crafts amidst a great deal of tourist tat.

Food & drink

Rum probably tops the souvenir list, with the premium rums nicely packaged for presents. Rum cake or “great cake” – rum-soaked Bajan fruit cake – comes a close second. Tortuga rum cake (golden original), which is sponge cake oozing with rum, is arguably the tastiest, though it originates from the Cayman Islands and is sold throughout the Caribbean. More locally produced are a host of condiments – from Bajan hot pepper sauce to spices, seasonings and chutneys, which slip into the suitcase more easily. All the above can be picked up in the supermarket, at Warrens and Holetown in particular, as well as in souvenir shops.
