Sandy Lane Gold Cup

The island’s premier day at the races (Mar)

The highlight of Barbados’ racing calendar, the Sandy Lane Gold Cup, is so much more than just a horse race – it’s a hugely enjoyable day out. The Garrison Savannah’s racetrack perimeter is packed with picnicking families, vendors selling drinks and fishcakes and the excitement mounts as the day progresses.

Before the big race, there’s a fabulous parade (pictured above), featuring dance groups, acrobats, stilt walkers and the Barbados Defence Force Band.
