Phillip Island Penguin Parade

Nightly penguin commutes

Phillip Island, Penguin Parade, VIC4.

Every night, just after sunset, the world’s smallest penguins waddle out of Summerland Bay on Phillip Island and head across the sand to their nests. And each night, people flock from near and far to watch the spectacle from the island’s multi-million-dollar Penguin Parade Visitor Centre. There are various viewing options, from standard auditorium-style seating, to premium, close-up seating and an indoor ‘Underground’ section offering an intimate view from sand level.

Book tickets online well in advance, especially if opting for premium or underground viewing (or if heading in on weekends or during holiday periods). A combination ticket includes entry to Phillip Island’s nearby Koala Conservation Reserve, where tree-top boardwalks offer close-up views of Australia’s favourite tree huggers.
