Apart from several chain establishments, hotels in York fall into two main categories.

High-end options

These include a number of local hotels dotted around the town, usually a little way from the centre.

• Out of the centre, there are a number on the approach roads from the Knavesmire, for instance, such as The Mount Royale.

• Nearer to the city centre are The Churchill or The Grange (Both on Bootham, just beyond the city walls.)

• In the centre, options include The Dean Court Hotel in the shadow of the Minster. Right next to the station is the large, former station hotel, The Milner York
