Onions
Usually grouped by colour and taste, onions come in a variety of guises.
Cebolla roja or cebolla morada is the red onion with a lightly piquant taste, cebolla blanca (white onion) has a mild taste and is widely used in salads, while the cebolla amarilla (yellow onion) has a stronger flavour that make it a favoured ingredient in cooked dishes.
Cebollas francesas or chalotas are shallots, cebolletas are spring onions, while cebollinos are chives.
