Breakfast (el desayuno) is usually a pretty light affair, taken at any time between 8 and midday. Many people in Spain will go to work on a cup of coffee and then pop out to take breakfast around 11am.

Lunch (la comida) is rarely taken before 2pm, though in tourist areas, restaurants my start serving from 1.30pm. Lunch is invariably the main meal of the day, though the days of a long lunch break followed by a siesta are largely over.

Dinner (la cena) will usually begin around 9pm (later in summer) and if you arrive earlier you are likely to have the restaurant to yourself.
