Circuit 1

The short option with upper terraces

Circuit 1 “Alto Corto” is the short version of the higher circuit, red on the map.

This takes you across the upper terraces and House of the Guardian, where most people take their photos of Machu Picchu. You enter Machu Picchu llaqta through the famed Main Gate. You see some of the main buildings, a view down onto the Sun Temple, the central plaza and the room with the Water Mirrors.
