Palacio del Inka

Best 5⋆ with an indoor swimming pool

Palacio del Inka paintings at reception

Palacio del Inka is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, which gives it the same high standard of management and service. Despite the hotel’s name, the interior is much more colonial Spanish than Inca. They’ve done a good job sourcing traditional art for an Andean feel but the furniture is entirely colonial. The bathrooms are modern luxury, without few Inca or colonial touches.

Palacio del Inka inner courtyard

The most Indigenous Andean touch is the women from the nearby village of Chinchero who weave in the courtyard. You can watch them work and also buy directly from them. You can buy at the same price you’d get in the market without giving a cut to the middle man.

This is one of the very few Cusco hotels with a swimming pool. It’s a small heated indoor pool with a jacuzzi next to it, meant for relaxing, not swimming laps. There is a small gym, though I doubt many guests would want to work out at 11,000 feet. The spa is better anyway.
