Inkilltambo

Best free Inca city site

Inkilltambo

This is by far my favorite Inca site near Cusco. It’s less than 2km from the trailhead and absolutely worth it.

As you can see in the photo, there are lots of terraces and a few buildings left. The roof covers a restored ccolca, which is a storage space. It has a cooling system built into the floor so that air circulates, keeping the stored food fresh.

It’s just uphill from the Plaza Real mall. The trail takes about half an hour and is mostly flat, sloping gently uphill.
