Pharmacies & Bóticas

For meds & toiletries

Farmacia

You can find just about everything at a pharmacy (farmacia), from diapers and baby formula to ibuprofen and Imodium. Bóticas are similar to pharmacies, but have more limited medications available. Bóticas often sell mostly toiletries like shampoo and soap.

Most pharmacies sell medications “por unidad” which means by the pill. You can purchase just one or two pills of ibuprofen or similar medications.

If you take prescription medications, bring enough for your trip. Also bring printed prescriptions from your doctor in case you need to buy any while you’re in Peru.

One big company owns both InkaFarma and MiFarma. It often has higher prices for medications than prices in Europe or North America. Some smaller, independent pharmacies may have lower prices, but in general medications are very expensive in Peru.
