Mt Aspiring National Park
Mt Aspiring NP is a wonderful mixture of remote wilderness, high mountains and beautiful river valleys. It is a walker's paradise and a must for mountaineers.
Established in 1964 as New Zealand's tenth national park, it is named after Mount Aspiring / Tititea (3,033m), and sits to the northeast and adjacent to Fiordland NP.
The NP is part of Te Wāhipounamu - South West New Zealand World Heritage Area - this spectacular 2.6 million hectare area encompasses Westland Tai Poutini, Aoraki/Mount Cook, Mount Aspiring and Fiordland national parks.
Gateways
Access for visitors is via Queenstown & Glenorchy for southwestern regions of the park and walks such as the Routeburn Track and Lake Sylvan Track.
