Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium
Vermont’s eye on the sky
Tune in to Vermont Public Radio and you might catch the state’s beloved Eye on the Sky weather reports from the meteorologists of the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium.
Established in 1889, the institution is both a natural history museum and the state’s only public planetarium.
Its exhibits range from taxidermy and historic artifacts to regional culture and science displays, all housed in a striking Victorian Romanesque building.
The Lyman Spitzer Jr. Planetarium offers daily shows that bring the cosmos to life.
In 2024, the museum was upgraded to become the state's first mass timber building, constructed with locally sourced eastern hemlock for a lower-carbon footprint.
