Mapparium

Time capsule of Earth’s borders, 1935

Church of Christ Scientist Mapparium

My how names and geopolitical boundaries have changed!

The Mapparium is a three-story, spherical, stained-glass globe located in the Mary Baker Eddy Library for Christian Science.

You do not need to be a believer to walk through the interior glass bridge for a glimpse of the world before WWII.

Spot Siam, Persia, and Italian East Africa. Take note that the acoustics of the space render what’s said quietly in Mexico echoes very loudly in the Soviet Union!
